This course is designed for individuals who are desiring to drive Medium rigid truck with a gross laden weight of more than 6,000kg up to 18,000kg without having to wait 6 months from the time a Class 2 Learner Licence is obtained.

Steps to get Class 2 Licence

- You can also purchase 10 sets of 35 questions official test questions for $15 at www.roadcodepractice.co.nz to have additional practice.
- Pass a medical test for Heavy Vehicle Licensing at your local doctor (GP).They will issue you with certificate which is valid for only 60 days.
- Take your current photo driver license and medical certificate to your local licensing station (AA, VTNZ, VINZ) and fill in (DL1) application form and apply at for your Class 2 Learner license. (applications are available at any licensing station). The Cost to sit your Class 2 Learner license theory test is $93,90. The learner licence theory test is a computer-based, 35-question, multi-choice test that assesses your knowledge of road rules and safe driving practices. You will need to get at least 33 questions right to pass.

Course covers following Unit Standards
- Unit Standard 17574 Operate a rigid vehicle to meet the requirements for a full Class 2 driver licence. Level 3 Credits 7
- Unit Standard 24089 Demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, work time, and driver logbook requirements. Level 3 Credits 5. (May not be required if you can provide evidence that you have completed this training in the last 12 months and we are happy with your level of knowledge)*
On successful completion of this course you will get following
- You will receive a NZTA course certificate to show that you completed the course that you are going to exchange for FULL Class 2 Driver’s license at your local licensing Agent (e.g. AA, VTNZ or VINZ)
- 7 credits registered to your NZQA Record of Achievements for completing US 17574
- 5 credits registered to your NZQA Record of Achievements for completing US 24089* (may not be required depending on previous courses completed)
